Barrington Stage Musical Theatre Conservatory for College Students

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Barrington Stage Company announced that the 2024 BSC Musical Theatre Conservatory will be tuition-free.    The 2024 Musical Theatre Conservatory runs June 3-July 26. Candidates must demonstrate strong musical theatre skills, be at least 19 years of age, and have completed at least one year of University-level training.    This competitive program fills up fast. Dalton Historical Commission Talks Sidewalks and Historic Districts

MassRMV Cautions Public to Beware of Deceptive and Mimic Websites

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is reminding customers to use only Mass.Gov/RMV for information or to perform many transactions, including when trying to renew a license or registration.

While there has been no sharp increase in reports of deceptive and mimic websites to the RMV, this is a busy time of year for customer transactions so the RMV is issuing this reminder to the public about sites which have been created to mislead customers into thinking they have reached the official RMV website.

Dalton Fire District Votes to Return Ladder Truck ARPA Funds to Town

DALTON, Mass. — The Board of Water Commissioners on Wednesday voted to return to the town the balance left of American Rescue Plan Act funds allocated for a ladder ladder truck.    "We appreciate the support and trust the Town of Dalton has consistently extended to our fire and emergency medical services. Permanent Supportive Housing Coming to Pittsfield Soon

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Housing Development Corp. has a few projects in the pipeline and hopes to start construction soon.

This includes 28 units of permanent and supportive housing on West Housatonic St., nine permanent supportive housing units on First St., and a housing resource center.  All are supported by $6.5 million of the city's American Rescue Plan Act funds.

President and CEO Eileen Peltier also reported that Berkshire Housing has been on a journey to change its culture over the last three years.

Pittsfield's Mental Health Committee Get Inaugural Members

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city now has a body dedicated to tackling one of the most hard-hitting issues it faces.

At its last meeting, the City Council accepted a slate of appointments to the Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Advisory Committee.

Spring Storm Causes Closures, Outages in Berkshire County

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A spring storm brought rain and snow to the county along with service outages.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the region saw wind, snow, sleet, and rain and is expected to get another round this evening, albeit not as significant.

Spectrum customers began experiencing internet and cable outages on Wednesday afternoon, which were restored by the evening, and Eversource customers also experienced power outages.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Pittsfield's Commissioner of Public Works and Utilities Ricardo Morales said the city had a good response despite not having all contractors available.
