February inflation data showed no progress on inflation. That follows the same kind of readings from the previous month. While two months does not make a trend, the disappointing numbers gave investors pause. Both the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and its cousin, The Producer Price Index (PPI), came in warmer than economists had expected. Consumer prices rose 3.2 percent in February from a year earlier but were only slightly higher than economists' expectations of 3.1 percent. The PPI rose 1.6 percent year-over-year, which was the largest gain since last September. Month-over-month, the PPI at +0.6 percent was double the average forecast. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Due to a Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) project to improve the intersections and traffic signals near Berkshire Medical Center (BMC) there will be impacts to traffic in this area throughout the duration of this project beginning on Monday, March 18. While this work is underway, traffic will be reduced to one lane of travel on First Street (U.S. Route 7) and North Street between Burbank Street and Abbott Street from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday through at least May 6.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Barrington Stage Company will hold auditions for local teens ages 13-19 for The Virginia and Harvey Kimmel Arts Education Fund's 2024 Devised Theatre Ensemble. Auditions are March 23 at Barrington Stage's Wolfson Center, 122 North Street, from 10am-2pm. The day will start with a group warmup and audition, followed by individual auditions. Those auditioning should prepare a 16-bar cut from the musical theatre cannon. An accompanist is provided. Sides will also be available. LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Officials want to revise the long-standing Police Advisory Review Commission to clarify its role.
Police Chief Robert Derksen and standing Chair Aaron Williams spoke to the Select Board on Monday about the future of the panel, citing years of officials questioning its purpose.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Board of Health voted for the demolition of two condemned properties and discussed how to preserve other housing stock from this fate.
"It's so unfortunate that we end up kind of with houses that if we could get in somehow much earlier we wouldn't have to take them down," Chair Roberta Elliott said on Tuesday. "It seems like such a late approach."
A house at 135 Lincoln St., a four-bedroom and two-bath multifamily built more than a century ago, has been condemned for a year with no improvement made to the property.

 DALTON, Mass. — The town's emergency management consultant Jamie Caplan Consulting presented goals on Friday for updating the hazard mitigation plan to fit the communities needs. The town received a grant through the state Emergency Management Agency, part of which covers the cost of the consultant.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A total of $469,000 aided downtown businesses through MassDevelopment's Transformative Development Initiative last year. On Tuesday, TDI Fellow Julie Copoulos outlined the three-year program's progress in bringing life to North Street and its goals for 2024.
"Recently someone said to me, 'Well, you know, mayor, we need to start getting some storefronts open,' and thanks to Julie's work, we have six or seven new downtown businesses," Mayor Peter Marchetti said.
