Lanesborough Library, Town Hall Upgrades ComingBy Brian Rhodes, iBerkshires Staff

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Planned upgrades to the library and Town Hall are still in progress despite supply-chain related delays. The town voted at a special town meeting in January to approve $100,000 of free cash to renovate several aspects of town hall and the library. Proposed improvements include new carpet, new windows, washing and painting of both the interior and exterior of the building. Library Director Sheila Parks said she has spoken to the contractors, who recently took measurements for the building. There have been delays in the process, she said, because of supply-chain issues.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Tyler Street will be a haunted ground of ghosts and ghouls once more this year.
The city's annual Halloween parade returns on Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. after a two-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The last parade was in 2019.
Recreation and Special Events Coordinator Becky Manship said it is a longstanding tradition that the community loves and the city is excited to bring it back. Schools, community, and civic groups are invited to participate in the all-ages event.
"We look forward to seeing all the ghouls, goblins, superheroes, floats, marchers, and more in this year's parade," Manship said in a press release.

Pittsfield Man Arrested for Alleged Road Rage GunfireStaff Reports,

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A Pittsfield man was arrested for alleged involvement in a road rage incident involving gunfire last week. On Aug. 31, the police responded to the incident on Cheshire Road near the intersection of Kittredge Road. It was reported that two vehicles were involved and the operator of one of the vehicles fired at least one round from a handgun.
No injuries were reported and there was no visible damage to the vehicle. There was also no ballistic evidence at the scene, police say.
On Friday night, police arrested 36-year-old Edward Martin on an outstanding warrant related to the road rage incident. He is being charged with carrying a firearm without a license and

A normally high traffic spot at St. Elizabeth's Parish in North Adams only had a handful of supporters although the crowd was larger across the street. As of 6:30 p.m., Pittsfield has a 34.4 percent voter turnout rate. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — It has so far been a relatively peaceful — and rainy — primary election day in the city. City Clerk Michele Benjamin reported that as of noon, there was only a 12 percent voter turnout. She hopes to see more votes cast later in the day and that the gloomy weather conditions don't deter too many people.
"It's going pretty well, we haven't had any problems or anything," she said around 3 p.m.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Kind has changed the location of its proposed facility and plans to be fully operational in less than one year. Originally to be built in the William Stanley Business Park, the cannabis company now plans to convert the former Starbase Technologies at the corner of Peck's and Valentine Roads into a cultivation and manufacturing facility.
"The development at the William Stanley Business Park turned out to be a little more complex and costly than we expected it to be and the opportunity with Peck's Road provided a good opportunity," Co-owner Jeremy Silverman explained at a public hearing on Thursday.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Wahconah Park's historic nature will likely not impede replacing the structure, if needed. The Wahconah Park Restoration Committee was told last week that the Massachusetts Historic Commission said "razing and rebuilding" park is not out of question. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The West Side Legends is hosting its first West Side Super Soap Box Derby on Saturday, Sept. 3, from noon to 3 with a rain date of Sept. 4. Check-in for the event starts at noon and the first race starts at 12:30 p.m. It will be held at the corner of Columbus and Robbins avenues. The racers will zoom down Robbins Avenue and the finish line will be at Southern Avenue. There will be two race classes: an adult class for ages 18 and older and a class for kids from ages 10 to 17.
Trophies will be presented for first and second place in each division and Best Show Car.
