Dalton ADA Committee Explores Expanding

DALTON, Mass. — The Americans with Disabilities Act will soon be a full committee.    The five-seat committee currently has four active members but received comments of interest from two residents.    The committee voted to appoint John Curro to the committee. The appointment will be added to a future Select Board agenda, ADA coordinator Alyssa Maschino said.    Curro had already completed the committee interest form, while the resident who expressed interest had yet to do so by the time of the meeting.    Curro has dealt with accessible buildings and walkways while working for Pittsfield housing for 36 years. BCC, Mill Town Partner to Support Philanthropy Through 40 Under Forty

Pittsfield Community Meeting On Rest of the River Project

Conte/Crosby SOI Greenlit by School Building Needs, School Committee

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The School Building Needs Commission and the School Committee authorized the superintendent to submit a statement of interest for a combined elementary build on the site of Crosby Elementary School.

Now the SOI needs support from the City Council, which will be decided later this month ahead of the April 12 deadline.

The proposal rebuilds Conte Community School and Crosby on the West Street site with shared facilities, as both have outdated facilities, insufficient layouts, and need significant repair. A rough timeline shows a feasibility study in 2026 with design and construction ranging from 2027 to 2029.

Dalton Traffic Commission Approves Special Permit for Nicholas Sand and Gravel

DALTON, Mass. — The Traffic Commission approved the renewal of Nichols Sand and Gravel's special permit for earth removal.    The company, located at 190 Cleveland Road, operates a gravel pit there.    The hours of operation will remain 7 to 4 p.m. The commission approved owner Paul Nichols' request to allow his trucks to depart the property in either direction.    Nichols has to apply for renewal of the special permit every year.    The previous permit required the truck to exit the property to the right. No Drought Conditions in Berkshire County

Dalton Town Employees Gets ADA Training
