 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Two dentists have joined Community Health Programs' (CHP) dental practices in Pittsfield and North Adams, where they provide care to adults and children. Dr. Ankineedu Babu Dasari has joined CHP North Adams Family Dental. A graduate of Sibar Institute of Dental Sciences in Takkellapadu, India, he earned an MBA in healthcare administration from the University of Findlay, in Findlay, OH. He completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) announces a slate of orientation sessions for new students, including in-person and virtual events, over the summer months. New Student Orientation and Registration These in-person sessions will be held on Tuesdays, June 28 and Aug. 9 from 8:30 am to 2 pm. Space is limited and registration is required. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Superintendent Joseph Curtis postponed active intruder drills that were scheduled this week out of respect for those who were killed in a mass school shooting in Texas on Tuesday. Nineteen children and two teachers lost their lives when an 18-year-old gunman opened fire on a fourth-grade classroom at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mental health supports were a reoccurring topic at the City Council meeting on Tuesday. The panel took up three new petitions that strive to answer the community's ask for improved responders for residents who are in crisis. The city's deficiency of mental health responders was brought to light after Miguel Estrella died at the hands of Pittsfield Police in late March.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — In its first major exhibition on contemporary Asian art, "A Spirit of Gift, A Place of Sharing" is a campus-wide exhibition opening May 30 at Hancock Shaker Village. The exhibition features three artists—Yusuke Asai of Japan, Kimsooja of Korea, and Pinaree Sanpitak of Thailand – who explore links between 19th-century Shaker art and contemporary Asian art. This is the third time in the last 30 years that Hancock Shaker Village has explored a connection between Asian aesthetics and the very American religious utopian Shaker movement. Baker's Golf Center opens for its 79th season on Wednesday after getting some upgrades and renovations. LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Slightly delayed but better than ever, Baker's Golf Center is set to tee off its 2022 season on Wednesday with all new amenities for its driving range and miniature golf clientele. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Police arrested 27-year-old Myles Handy near the Big Y Monday after they reportedly found a loaded, unlicensed gun on him. On Monday, May 23 at approximately 3:30 PM, Officer Ansy Jumeau was patrolling the parking lot of the Big Y Supermarket located at 200 West St. There, he observed a man, later identified as 27-year-old Myles Handy, attempting to conceal an object in the front of his pants. As he passed the officer, the officer observed the outline of a firearm handle from inside Handy's t-shirt.
