PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The cable contract renewal process is moving along with negotiations on the horizon.
The Cable Advisory Committee last week authorized the forwarding of a request for response of ascertainment, or a request for proposal, to Charter Spectrum. This concludes the ascertainment process and moves toward negotiations.
Member Shawn Serre explained that this is a motion to authorize the chair to take a document being formulated by outside counsel to the mayor's office so that it can be submitted to the cable provider to kick off negotiations.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The City of Pittsfield, along with Downtown Pittsfield, Inc. will be hosting a brand new event - First Fridays at Five – on May 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. Be aware that North Street will be closed from Park Square to Depot Street from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3. Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes during this timeframe and follow appropriate detours. LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — The town is looking at a proposed $4.3 percent budget increase for fiscal 2025.
The Finance Committee last month approved an $11,846,607 spending plan without changes and will vote on the annual town meeting warrant articles next week. It was accepted by the Select Board on Monday.
Town Administrator Gina Dario told the board that things are moving along quicker than last year in terms of the budget and the ATM warrant, which was helped by the absence of a special town meeting.
"We worked right through April, we did present the budget to the Finance Committee at their last meeting. They did approve the budget in its totality without changes,"

 ADAMS, Mass. -- The Adams Lions Club’s annual golf tournament will be Saturday, May 18, at Forest Park Country Club. Teams of four will compete in a 9-hole scramble format with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. Proceeds will support Lions initiatives, including scholarships for local high school graduates and community events, such as a Halloween parade for local children and lunch for senior citizens. BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll Administration is providing grants to more than 100 Massachusetts public schools serving Gateway Cities to help high school seniors complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In Berkshire County, Eagle Education Academy will receive $30, Pittsfield High School will receive $5,400 and Taconic High will receive $5,670. These grants, totaling more than $550,000, follow an announcement that the state's priority deadline to apply for Massachusetts financial aid via MASSGrant has been extended from May 1 to July 1, 2024.
