The 18 month renovation of the Probate Court has begun. The building will stay open during the $2.8 million construction but access will be somewhat more difficult because the lawn of the neighboring property will be used as staging. Those coming from Wendell Avenue will need to follow the sidewalk around instead of cutting through the other courts.

 Pittsfield High School's drama society, Proteus, will present its annual "Haunted Halls" at PHS on Friday & Saturday, Oct 26-27, from 6:30-8:30 PM

The public is welcome to experience the thrills, chills, and maybe even a little scare as PHS students participate in presenting their adaptation of horror films to the hallways.

Admission is $3. for students and children, and $5. for adults. Maximum cost to families is $10. Tickets will be available just inside the main entrance doors at PHS.

Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. will open a new outpatient clinic located at 42 Summer Street in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The new location will offer medication-assisted treatment and counseling, beginning Tuesday, October 9, 2012.

The Board of Health has identified 3 samples of West Nile Virus from different areas of Pittsfield.

PITTSFIELD - The City of Pittsfield Board of Health said that three positive West Nile Virus Mosquito samples were reported this week from three separate neighborhoods. The positive samples were found on Meleca Ave., Garland Ave., and near Interprint on Route 41.

 The board once again reminds city residents that although cooler temperatures reduce mosquito activity, there remains a potential risk of contracting a mosquito borne virus from mosquito bites. The best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from mosquito borne viruses is to take the following precautions.
