PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A Springfield man pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Berkshire Superior County Thursday in the 2010 murder of a former Lee High School star athlete.

Terrance Brown, 28, pleaded guilty to single counts of manslaughter and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon in connection with the stabbing of 26-year-old Jahda Martin on March 6, 2010.

Brown, along with Allen McGraw and Trevor L. Pryce Jr. allegedly stabbed Martin in the Burger King parking lot on Wendell Avenue Extension. Martin died at Berkshire Medical Center shortly after the early morning altercation. Martin had just left Club Groove, located across the street, when he was attacked.

Judge John Agostini sentenced Brown to 10 to 12 years in state prison at the Massachusetts Correctional  Institution at Cedar Junction on the manslaughter charge and concurrent sentences on the other charges. Brown also pleaded guilty to unrelated charges of distribution of cocaine - his second offense - and drug violation in a school zone.

A single count of intimidation of a witness was dismissed by the state.
