Firefighters Knock Down Fire at Lanesborough Truck Repair Shop

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — A swift response knocked down a small fire in a garage bay at Village Truck Sales on Thursday evening.    A motorist notified police that he believed there was a fire at the Route 8 business and Fire Chief Charlie Durfee said the call of a structure fire came in at 5:39 p.m.   "The first engines to pull up on scene were Lanesborough and Cheshire's Engine 2, because they come for us right away, and they found a small fire inside the [bay] door on the left," he said. Former Williams Student Convicted of Rape

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Former Williams College student Yoonsang Bae has been found guilty of raping a classmate five years ago.   He was convicted on Friday in Berkshire Superior Court by Judge Michael Callan of a single count of rape relating to an on-campus incident in 2014.   The 27-year-old Bae will be sentenced on Friday, Sept. 13.   The victim, who was 19 at the time, testified that after attending an event with Bae, she returned to his room for a drink. She then got sick from the alcohol and Bae placed her in his bed where she passed out. When she awoke, Bae was raping her. He refused to stop despite her protests. The two were both

Pittsfield Police Arrest Man on DUI, Firearms Charges

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A man allegedly under the influence took officers on a high-speed chase after a Shot Spotter notification early Tuesday morning until crashing through the fence at St. Joseph's Church and hitting a tree.     Domingo Sobers, 28, is being charged with numerous motor vehicle offenses, including driving under the influene, as possessing a firearm without a license and discharging one within 500 feet of a building.   According to a report by Lt. Pittsfield Police Cruiser Involved in Accident

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A Pittsfield Police cruiser was involved in a two-car accident on Thursday evening and the officer and the driver of the second vehicle incurred minor injuries.    According to police, the 2017 Ford Explorer operated by Officer Matthew Killeen was northbound traveling from South Street through the intersection at Park Square at about 8:30 p.m. when he collided with a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, operated by Sheila Aitken of Cheshire.   Killeen had his emergency lights activated in response to a call for service, police said.    Both operators were transported to Berkshire Medical Center for minor injuries. Former Becket Resident Victim of Sunday's Shooting in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A former Becket woman has died from injuries suffered during an early morning shooting on Sunday, Aug. 25.   Stephanie Olivieri, 32, of Yonkers, N.Y., suffered a single gunshot wound while sitting in a vehicle near the intersection of Columbus Avenue and South John Street in Pittsfield. She subsequently died at Berkshire Medical Center. The case is being investigated as a homicide.   At this time, the family requests privacy.   Pittsfield Police responded to both a ShotSpotter activation and several 911 calls reporting multiple gunshots at 3:22 a.m. on Sunday.
