Pittsfield Home Damaged When Car Hit Porch
Staff Reports,
06:41PM / Friday, January 18, 2019

The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene after colliding with the home.

The concern for first responders was the potential weigh being put on the roof of the porch when the snow storm comes this weekend.
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A Wellington Avenue home was damaged when a vehicle collided with the porch Friday night.

The operator of the black Chevy Cobalt with at least one, possibly two, other passengers got out of the vehicle and left the scene.

Police were searching for those involved at about 6 p.m.

It appears the operator was going eastbound on Maplewood and failed to navigate the turn onto Wellington, slid off the road, and then crashed into the porch.

The stairs leading to the small porch and entrance were destroyed and a support beam was compromised.

Firefighters on scene attempted to re-center the post but were still concerned with its ability to bear weight, especially with a heavy amount of snow in the forecast.
