TINSELINER TRAINS WITH SANTA CLAUS

CHRISMAS GOSPEL CONCERT
Lenox, 4 p.m.
The Gospel Gang, a contemporary Christian/gospel choir, along with The Messengers, a gospel trio, will present "Christmas Gospel" at United Methodist Church of Lenox, 8 Holmes Road, to benefit the PACC Emergency Fuel Fund (Pittsfield Area Council of Congregations) and The Emergency Assistance Fund of CONSTRUCT Inc., Great Barrington. There is a suggested donation of $10 admission fee to the concerts.

CHILDREN'S ORNAMENT CRAFTING
Lenox, 1-3 p.m.
Children of all ages and their families are welcomed to Ventfort Hall to decorate one of the many trees that adorn the mansion this holiday season and make holiday cards for friends and family. Children will be able to craft their own ornaments and decorate a tree with them as well as take home some handmade ornaments. The finished decorated tree will remain on display in the mansion until early January. Admission is $5 per child (to cover material fees). Parents/guardians are admitted at no extra charge. Reservations not required but encouraged at 413-637-3206.

DAVID ORTIZ'S BAT
Lanesborough, Noon-6 p.m.
David Ortiz’s bat will be on display at the Baseball in the Berkshires Museum in the Berkshire Mall, the exact replica of the Marucci bat Big Papi used in his last year with the Red Sox. Visitors can hold his bat and get their picture taken with it.

YULE FOR FUEL
Pittsfield, 3 p.m.
The sixth annual Yule for Fuel, co-hosted by the Berkshire Concert Choir and Zion Lutheran Church, will be held in the Common Room at Zion Lutheran Church, 74 First St. Yule for Fuel is a free community sing-along, backed by a large choir, and complete with beautiful piano accompaniment and majestic organ playing. Paula Nuss will conduct the Berkshire Concert Choir, and Amy Renak and The Rev. Timothy Weisman from Zion Lutheran Church will accompany the carols. A free-will offering will be collected to support the Pittsfield Area Council of Congregations Emergency Fuel Fund.

'THE SUPERNATURAL WORLD IN THE 1700S'

The Bidwell House Museum, in collaboration with the Monterey Community Center, presents “History Talk Replay” one afternoon a month at the Monterey Community Center - broadcast of one of our popular summer History Talks.  First up is a talk from the 2010 series "The Lost World of Early America." Listen to popular speaker John Demos present "The Supernatural World in the 1700: Religion, Magic, Witchcraft and ‘Wonders.'" The History Talk Replay series is free, but donations are welcome.

EXHIBIT OPENING LECTURE

Discover ways to navigate outdoors in winter while having fun exploring an interactive display station that features some useful tools of the trade. Investigate the wonders of maps and compass along with a few tricks to identify animal tracks and trees from their bark. Games and hands-on map-making are some of the activities will round out the visit. This program was designed as a self-guided activity but may also be led by a park interpreter. At our December gathering we will welcome Jane and Bruce Winn from BEAT (Berkshire Environmental Action Team)! Jane and Bruce will lead a demonstration on how to make your own storm window inserts easily and affordably. You would be amazed at how much money and heat is leaking out of our old, single-pane windows every winter! Come on down to learn how to make your own storm window inserts! Green Drinks is an international forum where people who work in the environmental field meet for a beer and snacks at informal sessions. There will be a lively mix of people from Non-profit organizations, academia, government and business. Green Drinks is a great way of catching up with people you know and for making new contacts. These networking events are very simple and unstructured. Come along and you’ll be made welcome.

Hikes may include bird viewing, tree identification, or just a great opportunity to join other hiking enthusiasts. Be prepared for the weather; wear appropriate  clothing, bring trekking poles and traction devices for boots or snowshoes. Join naturalist Mike Whalen of the Department of Conservation and Recreation for a moderate 1.8-mile-hike on the Bradley Farm Interpretive Trail at the base of Mount Greylock.
