Gary B. Scribner, 61

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Gary Bradford Scribner, 61, of Edward Avenue, died Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Hillcrest Commons Nursing Home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born on April 28, 1955, in Pittsfield, the son of the late Leon H. and Edwina M. Dush Scribner, Jr. He attended Pittsfield schools and graduated in 1974. He later attended K Harvey School of Beauty. He then became a crafted hairstylist and owner/operator of Gary's Color and Design for many years; a profession he was born to do.
Gary enjoyed cooking for large family gatherings. He also enjoyed the great outdoors and long walks with his beloved dogs Max and Daisey.
Gary is survived by his four sisters, Karen A. Sinopoli of Pittsfield, Linda L. Silvestro of Pittsfield, Sandra L. Scribner of Pittsfield and Debra M. Gero of Lanesborough; one brother, Randy W. Scribner of Charlotte, N.C.; 11 nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Leon E. Scribner.
Funeral notice: Calling hours will be Friday, February 17, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, followed at 3 p.m. by a Memorial Service conducted by Rev. Richard Hayes, Chaplain at HospiceCare in the Berkshires. Donations may be made in Gary's memory to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
