Jennie R. Sciola, 92

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Jennie R. Sciola, 92, of 47 Dickinson Ave., passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center.



Born on November 18, 1924, in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Loverde Conti. A lifelong Pittsfield resident, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and had worked at one time at General Electric and the former Rice Silk Mill. She married her husband, the late Benedetto J. Sciola on January 8, 1945, at the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He died on July 6, 2006.



A homemaker, she was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She enjoyed reading. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.



She leaves two sons, Benedetto J. Sciola and his wife Sandra of Hinsdale and Michael A. Sciola of Pittsfield; two daughters, Marie C. Barzousky and her husband Benjamin of Pittsfield and Karen J. Corl and her husband Richard of Pittsfield; her former daughter-in-law, Donna Sciola of Pittsfield; her special friend and sister-in-law, Angie Lausier of Pittsfield; 12 grandchildren, Jessica Craig, Laurie Exeter, Benny Sciola, Danny Sciola, Nicole Pona, Steven Barzousky, Kristine Barzousky, Stefanie Corl, Gina Corl, Vicki Corl, Amanda Sciola and Michael Sciola; 15 great-grandchildren, Maggie Craig, Alex Craig, Sam Exeter, Max Exeter, Lizy Barzousky, Gabe Barzousky, Arden Barzousky, Lily Sciola, Luke Sciola, Landen Sciola, Kenzie Pona, Jaxyn Beil, Jeremiah Beil, Mariah Purry and Michael Londergan Jr.; two step-grandchildren, Sarah Kermensky and Hailey Rinaldi; and many nieces and nephews.



She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Conti; and by her sister, Mary Conti.



Funeral notice: Funeral services for Jennie R. Sciola of Pittsfield who passed away on February 19, 2017, will be held Friday, February 24, 2017, at 8:15 a.m. from the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Church celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor.



Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 23, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Jennie may be made to Moments House in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
