PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Phyllis Grandbois, 73, of 63 Orchard St., Pittsfield, died April 7, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. 

Born in Pittsfield on February 23, 1944, she was the daughter of Herbert E. and Doris V. (Harford) Sprague. She was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Wahconah High School. Primarily a homemaker, Phyllis enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her family. 

She is survived by her three sons, Bernard E. Goewey and his wife Michelle of Chucky, Tenn., Michael G. Goewey and his fiancé Amy of Pittsfield, Mass., and Frankie E. James of North Adams; her two daughters, Tawnya M. Underhill and her companion Albert McAuley of Pittsfield and Jennifer L. Hassan and her fiancé Sherman Banker Jr. of Pittsfield; her two brothers, Neil E. Sprague and his wife Kathy of Dalton, Mass., and Herbert J. Sprague and his wife Marion of Blythewood, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

She was predeceased by her son, Shawn M. Hassan.

Funeral notice: Calling hours for Phyllis Grandbois, who died April 7, 2017, will be held Monday, April 10, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA, 01201. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Elizabeth Freeman Center in care of the funeral home.
