Joan A. Carron, 83

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Joan A. Carron, 83, of 176 Columbus Avenue, Berkshiretown Apartments, passed away on June 22, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center. 



Born on October 21, 1933 in Pittsfield, she was a daughter of the late George and Hazel Nimchick Turner. A lifelong Pittsfield resident, she was educated in Pittsfield schools. 



She married her husband, the late Maurice N. “Mike” Carron on June 17, 1995 in Pittsfield. He died on April 15, 2016. 



Joan was employed as a LPN for many years at the former Pittsfield General Hospital, Berkshire Medical Center and the Berkshire County Jail & House of Correction. She also did private duty nursing and had worked at several area nursing homes. She retired in 1993. 



She was a communicant of the former St. Mary the Morning Star Church. She enjoyed bingo and dancing and also enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox. 



She leaves her son, Edward J. Simmons Jr. and his wife Jean of Pittsfield; her daughter, Diane M. Curran of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Richard Turner of Ft. Collins, Colo.; a sister, Beverly Metivier and her husband Fran of Pittsfield; a stepson, Michael J. Carron and his wife Cyndi of Wilbraham, Mass.; three stepdaughters, Michele Provencher and her husband Rob of Hinsdale, Maureen Osier of Dalton and Joni Carron of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Nicole Koehl, Matthew Simmons, Lindsay Curran and Brittany Curran; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. 



She was predeceased by a brother, the late George “Bud” Turner. 



Funeral notice: Funeral services for Joan A. Carron, 83, who passed away June 22, 2017, will be held Wednesday, June 28. 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. 



Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Joan may be made to UCP of Berkshire County or to Elder Services of Pittsfield both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
