Rosalee E. Halik, 78

May 11, 2018

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Rosalee E. Halik, 78, passed away at home in Pittsfield on Friday, May 11, 2018, due to complications with Parkinson's Disease, which she fought for nearly six years.

She was born December 17, 1939, the daughter of the late Evelyn (Bernard) Forsyth and Merrill Forsyth in Hubbard, Oregon, and attended grade school in St Paul, Ore., and high school in Woodburn, Ore.  Rosalee then finished her education at Oregon State University.  The family moved to California, where she worked at the financial department of Lockheed Corp. in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Rosalee met (in 1960) Frank J Halik, who was on a field service assignment at Lockheed for GE-Ordnance.  After a whirlwind romance, they were married on April 29, 1961, in Los Altos, Calif., and moved to Pittsfield, Mass., in 1964.

Rosalee was the mother of their two children and when they were about teenagers, she returned to the financial world by working at Shearson Brokerage Firm's Pittsfield office and becoming the Office Manager until retiring after 13 years in 1993.

Rosalee became an avid bowler, and golfer at Berkshire Hills Country Club, until the ravages of her disease took over.

She and Frank traveled the world extensively after her retirement, mostly on their 43 ocean and river cruises and several other trips to Europe and the USA.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (and companion Myron Ritrosky Jr.), plus granddaughters Kathryn (Joel), Molly and Jayme; son Robert of Norfolk, Va., (and companion Christine Cherry), and grandsons Mark (Lindsay), Garret, Tyler and Ryan; Frank's brother John (Sandra); several nieces and nephews and cousins scattered around the country; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Cutting.

Rosalee was predeceased by her younger siblings, Donald and Diane Forsyth.

Special thanks go to Rosalee's care-folks: hospice nurse Nadine Abderhalden, and private aides Christine DiCenzo, and Vicki Wichmann for their loving support, and to longtime friends Elaine Lee and Judy Weldon for their frequent visits.

Funeral notice: Calling hours for Rosalee will be Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Flynn and Dagnoli Funeral Home, 5 Elm Street, Pittsfield. A Celebration of Life officiated by Rev. Rich Hayes, Hospice Spiritual Care, will follow at 11 a.m.

Burial at St Joseph's Cemetery will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home.

Dear Frank Halik & family, My heartfelt condolences to you.In the 80's I got to know Rosalee while investing w/ Ray Zamboni of Shearson. She was smart, responsive, dedicated, loyal, and very kind. When I entered that office, Rosalee was the person to go to. I pray she is in peace.
