Walter F. Mularski Jr., 90

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Walter Mularski Jr., 90, of Pittsfield, passed away on May 19, 2018, in Pittsfield, Mass., after a brief illness.  



Walter was born in Adams, Mass., on December 22, 1927, to Frances and Walter Mularski Sr. He graduated from Adams Memorial High School and then attended Worcester Academy for one year.  Upon finishing high school in 1945, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan; at the conclusion of World War II, he served as a photographer for General Douglas MacArthur. After the war, he moved to New York City and worked on Wall Street as a securities analyst but returned to Adams to assist in running the family business, Standard Furniture Company.  



He married Mildred Jenks Carnevale on December 31, 1966, in Pittsfield. His long career was spent running Standard Furniture, where his son joined him in recent years until his retirement. In addition to the furniture business, he was also involved in several civic organizations and served on corporate boards during his career.  



His parents and his sister, Victoria, preceded Walter in death.  



He is survived by his wife, Mildred; by his children, Marisa Ronan and her husband, Terrence, of Hingham, Mass., Marla Sigman of Andover, Mass., and Marc Mularski and his wife, Catherine, of Pittsfield; his sister, Helen Mularski of Adams, Mass.; and his grandchildren Conor and Carter Ronan, Zachary, Caleb and Jayden Sigman, and Marc, Amanda and Angela Mularski.  



Funeral notice: Calling hours will be Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 4- to 7 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St. Pittsfield, MA 01201. Services will be Friday, May 25, 2018, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 196 Elm St. Pittsfield with the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, family friend, officiating.  



Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
