Ruth E. Testoni, 97

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Ruth E. Testoni (Carr), 97, of Deland, Florida, and formerly of Pittsfield, Mass., passed away Saturday May 19, 2018, in Deland.



She was born In Springfield, Mass., to Harold and Ola Carr. She was a graduate of the High School of Commerce In Springfield and also graduated from The Springfield Business Institute. During World War II Mrs. Testoni was employed at Bradley Army Air Force Base in Windsor Locks, Conn. She was involved in ordering and shipping parts for US fighter planes.



She married William A. Testoni on June 30, 1945. They were married for 49 years until his death until November 14, 1994.



Mrs. Testoni was employed as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper for many years. She and her husband were also real estate brokers and operated their own real estate agency. 



While living in Berkshire County, Mrs. Testoni was an active parishioner of the former Mount Carmel Church. She and her husband were also very active members of ITAM.  Mrs. Testoni was an avid golfer; she also loved to read and could often be found working on her puzzle books.



Mrs. Testoni is survived by her daughters, Linda Hanbery of Pittsfield and Jewel Tompkins, her caregiver, and her husband Dan of Seville, Fla.; her grandchildren Patrick, Amy, Michael, Christian and Beth; eight beloved great grandchildren; her niece Judy Wheeler and her husband George of Southfield, Mass.; and a nephew Rev. Dick Beebe of Maine and his wife Gen. 



She was predeceased by her husband, William; and a granddaughter, Julie Beth Scherr.



Funeral notice: Flowers are politely declined. Anyone wishing to may make a donation to the American Cancer Society, a children’s charity or a charity of their choice in care of the funeral home.  The family will hold a private celebration of life. Flynn and Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home of 5 Elm St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 is in charge of arrangements.
