WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Cole Wojtkowski scored 28 points on Sunday afternoon to lead Greylock to a 53-42 win over the Boys Club Black team in the Berkshire County Youth Basketball seventh- and eighth-grade championship game.

Toby Foehl scored 13, and Mitchell Jezouit added six for Greylock, which topped the Boys Club Black squad for the second time in 10-team double-elimination tournament.

Boys Club hung tough early, using 3-pointers by Nick Taylor, Laqeuin Brown and Zak Bernardo to take a 13-10 lead after one quarter.

But Greylock used its transition game — often with Wojtkowski on the finishing end — to take a 25-19 half-time lead.

CHESHIRE, Mass. — Pittsfield and Hoosac Valley earned divisional titles at Sunday's Berkshire County-PVIAC cheerleading championships at Hoosac Valley Middle and High School. 

Pittsfield captured the Division 3 crown, and Hoosac finished first in Division 4.

Five Berkshire County teams competed, and all but one qualified for next week's regionals in central Massachusetts.

In addition to Hoosac and Pittsfield, the regional qualifiers were Drury, which finished fourth in the co-ed division but first in the county in that class, and Mount Everett, which placed second in the Game Day division.

Wahconah’s squad also competed at the regional qualifier.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The governor has tapped Michael Case to head the Western Regional office of the Department of Conservation and Recreation.   Case took over the job on Feb. 1 and now oversees 39 parks from Mount Holyoke west, including Pittsfield State Forest, Mount Tom, and Mount Greylock.    "I've been a Berkshires guy all my life. I'm an outdoors guy. I couldn't say no," Case said on Friday.    The position is administrative and manages all of the state parks in the region. He oversees a team of district managers. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Parks Commission is considering a policy to ban those who have been arrested inside a city park from city parks.   Parks and Open Spaces Manager James McGrath presented the idea on Tuesday to issue no-trespass orders to those arrested. The plan stems from a working group looking to improve safety at the skate park on Appleton Avenue.   "Sometimes it is for just that one park but oftentimes it is trespassed for all city parks," McGrath said.   School officials previously asked for the ability to issue trespass orders on the skate park. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Housatonic defeated Greylock, 46-41, on Sunday to end Greylock's run in this weekend's fifth- and sixth-grade youth basketball tournament.   Derek Paris and Thomas martin scored 12 points apiece to lead Greylock.   Earlier in the tournament, Greylock picked up a 45-29 win over Dalton that saw Tate Kuster lead the way with 17 points. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. Pittsfield's Aimee Boulais and Williamstown's Abby Coleman earned gold medals in figure skating at the Bay State Winter Games this weekend at Lansing Chapman Rink.   Boulais won the juvenile girls test track group 2 division of the U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned competition, defeating seven other girls in her class.   Coleman won the five-competitor novice ladies test track group.   Pownal, Vt.'s, Lara Shore-Sheppard tied for first place in the adult silver ladies free skating competition.   The skating component of the games took place over the course of three days starting Friday morning.   Other area competitors to medal included:

DALTON, Mass. — The Dalton Community Recreation Association has opened registration for Session III Swimming Lessons.

Lessons run from Feb. 1-April 16 (10 weeks). A General CRA Jr. Membership ($40) is required and everyone must wear a swim cap.
