PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A new exhibit at Herman Melville's Arrowhead was created by baseball fans for everyone else.   You do not have to love America's pastime to enjoy "Baseball and the Berkshires: A County's Common Bond," currently on display in the barn at the Holmes Road museum.   "Just as we were finishing up doing the exhibit, a young woman came in and found a Pittsfield Mets cap," recalled Tom Daly, one of the three creators of the exhibit. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The verdict is in. And for New Englanders who stand by the Patriots through and through, the verdict is definitely in your favor.   Four-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady has yet won another battle, beating NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell in federal court. PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Ryan Melle went 3-for-3 with four runs batted in on Sunday to lead the Cornerstone Nineties to the Berkshire Adult Baseball League 20-and-over Division title.   Andrew Kelly and Brendan Bushey combined for the win on the mound as Cornerstone won, 11-4, to complete a two-game sweep in the best-of-three championship series.   In the BABL's 35-and-over Division, the Adams Aces took the championship with a 2-1 series win over the Bandits.   The Bandits forced Game 3 with a 2-1 win on Sunday morning. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The 39th annual Josh Billings RunAground Triathlon is calling on volunteers to help support its historic race which this year is taking place on Sept. 20. Routinely, the race requires some 350 volunteers to help the event run smoothly.

“The Josh” – as it is known to locals and participants – is the second oldest triathlon of its kind in the country and has taken place in Berkshire County since 1977.  Race proceeds have benefited Berkshire United Way since 2002 and total nearly $60,000 since that time.

“We’re always happy to support Berkshire United Way,” Patty Spector, Josh Billings race director, said.

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. -- BBA withstood a pair of seventh-inning rallies to earn two one-run victories and a 2-1 series victory in the Berkshire Adult Baseball League on Sunday afternoon at Bill Laston Memorial Park.   BBA came from behind in both its games to win 10-9 and 8-7 over the Great Barrington Millers and will meet Cornerstone next weekend for the championship of the league's 20-and-over division.   Cornerstone on Sunday defeated Housatonic, 5-0, to earn a two-game sweep in their best-of-three series.   At Adams' Renfrew Field, the host Aces trumped the Thunder to sweep their series and set up a date with the Bandits in the 35-and-over division

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. -- The Southeast regional champions scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to earn a 5-4 win over Pittsfield on Tuesday evening at the Babe Ruth Baseball 15-year-old World Series.   Jake McNeice went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI, and Jack Cooney went 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBIs for Pittsfield.   McNeice also went the distance on the mound, allowing four earned runs while striking out four.   Southeast moved on to Wednesday's semi-finals of the single-elimination tournament. Pittsfield, which won the New England regional title earlier this summer, finished the national tournament with a record of 2-3.

Tim Bishop threw four shutout innings and had a single and two doubles at the plate to lead the Bandits to an 11-1 win over the Spiders that clinched the Berkshire Adult Baseball League 35-and-over regular season title this weekend.   Mike Delsodato had two hits and three RBIs for the Bandits, who finished the season with a record of 11-3.   Jude Koamaya drove in the lone Spiders run.   The BABL playoffs get under way this weekend, but the league handed out some seaons-ending honors this week.   Brandon Bushey and Adam L'Hote were named the most valuable players of the 20-and-over and 35-and-over divisions, respectively.   The batting average titles went to D.J.

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. -- Izaiya Mestre and Jacob Flynn combined on a two-hitter as the Pittsfield All-Stars defeated the Midwest Plains regional champions, 6-0, on Monday at the Babe Ruth Baseball 15-year-old World Series.   Mestre struck out eight and allowed one hit over five innings before Flynn came on to pitch the sixth and seventh.   Mestre also went 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Brett Murphy singled and scored a run as Pittsfield (2-2) rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fourth to break open a 1-0 game.
