Gittens' 31 Lead MCLA in Narrow Road Win

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Taconic High graduate Quentin Gittens scored a career-high 31 points Wednesday to lead the MCLA men's basketball team to an 80-76 win over Bridgewater State.   Hayden Morris-Gray made a layup with just less than two minutes left in regulation to give the Trailblazers a 78-71 lead.   After the Bears got within two points on a 3-pointer with 36 seconds on the clock, Jojo Garcia drew a foul with 1 second remaining and made both his free throws to secure the win.   MCLA (7-7, 2-1 MASCAC) hosts Salem State on Saturday.   BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Kylie Grassi scored 18 points to lead Bridgewater State to a 71-33 win over MCLA.   Kristie Zator

Carpenter Breaks School Assist Record at Framingham State

Framingham State senior point guard Gwendolyn Carpenter last month broke the all time assist record at the school.   Her 466th career assist came in a win over Curry College on Dec. 9, breaking a 5-year-old school record.   Carpenter was averaging more than seven assists per game going into Wednesday's home game against Westfield State. She also led the Rams (11-1) in minutes played, averaging 36.8 minutes per contest and had scored 9.4 points per game.   Carpenter is no stranger to breaking records. As a senior at Mount Everett, she set Berkshire County's all-time scoring mark for high school basketball.   Framingham State visits MCLA on Wednesday, Jan.
