Suns Fall Short In Home Finale

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Pittsfield Suns packed Wachonah Park for their final regular season home game, but ultimately fell short to the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide, 13-3.

The Suns still managed to send their boisterous crowd of 3,966 off in style as the first 1000 fans to the ballpark got free presidential bobble head dolls. Fans got to choose between the two presidential candidates as to which bobble head they wanted, and in the eighth inning Barack Obama was announced as the winner of the “Pittsfield Bobble Head Election of 2012.”

Despite the lopsided score, Suns fans remained into the game throughout and could still be seen and heard cheering until the final out. The fans roared their approval in the ninth inning when Rob Mclam (Umass-Amherst) hammered a run-scoring double to drive in the Suns’ third run of the game. After the games’ final out the Suns came back onto the field to thank the fans. The fans responded with a loud standing ovation as the players waved their caps to the crowd. After the games conclusion, all in attendance were allowed onto the field with the players to watch a brilliant fireworks display that lit up the sky behind the right 200 OK
