Lift Ev'ry Voice Festival is Underway!
This year the Lift Ev'ry Voice Festival celebrates 150 years of America truly being free. 150 years ago the 13th Amendment ended slavery in the United States. Please join the 2015 Lift Ev'ryVoice Festival in celebrating this milestone anniversary and African Americans in the Berkshires, their heritage and cultures. The Festival officially opened on Juneteenth, June 19th, the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States, with events all over Berkshire County.

Friday+ Rogue Angel Theatre Presents The Lift
A tender and subversive dark comedy about love, desire, and escalation with six actors, a tiny piano, a saw and an upright base. Rogue Angel pulls out all the stops in this ritual dance theatre piece featuring a collaboratively devised script, music by Brooklyn-based band 'Half-Waif', an original film, and a bit of Burlesque thrown in for good measure. The show continues next weekend June 25-28.

The Gala will begin in the second floor galleries at the Museum where a delicious wine and hors d'oeuvres reception will serve as the backdrop for the Silent Auction. Guests will then be escorted to the Theater for the Live Auction. The auction is followed by the Celebratory Wine Dinner in the Ellen Crane Memorial Room, catered by Chef Peter Platt of Old Inn on the Green. Guest of honor John Kolasa has provided wines from Château Rauzan-Ségla Margaux and Château Canon Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé.

Sunday: Berkshire Humane Society's WOOFSTOCK
Berkshire Humane Society's 20th Annual Dog Walk will be held at The Common in Pittsfield, this year. NEWS10's Chief Meteorologist, Steve Caporizzo is the Honorary Chairman of this year's Woofstock. He will be making a special guest appearance at this year's walk. Anyone that raises $500 will be invited to a private luncheon with Steve at the shelter! Woofstock is one of the major fundraisers that helps BHS meet the growing needs of our community, all of income is derived either from the donations, bequests, memberships of friends, or fundraising events held throughout the year. Monday: Craft Activity: Design Your Own Superhero Cape at the Berkshire Athenaeum
Craft Activities last for 30 - 40 minutes and are intended for children 5 - 12 years old. Registration is required (in person or by phone). First Fridays Artswalk is July 3!
The July 3rd First Fridays Artswalk will encompass nineteen different art shows featuring work by over 30 student and accomplished regional artists in Pittsfield's bustling Upstreet Cultural District, with venues as far south as the Berkshire Museum and as far North as Berkshire Medical Center.
Community Access to the Arts (CATA) will present "I Am a Part of Art," a celebration of CATA's visual artists and writers at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts. The exhibit features over 115 works of art created by artists with disabilities from Berkshire County. CATA artists receive a commission on all works sold, and proceeds will also support CATA visual arts programs. The Lichtenstein will be open during First Fridays Artswalk with the official opening reception taking place on Thursday, July 9th from 5pm-7pm.
