LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. -- The Pittsfield Babe Ruth All-Stars fought back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game only to fall, 4-3, to the Middle Atlantic regional champions on Sunday night at the Babe Ruth Baseball 15-year-old World Series.
Izaiya Mestre had a single and an RBI, and Drew DeMartino and Tyler Cowdrey each drove in a run for Pittsfield (1-2).
After falling behind, 3-0, after the first, the New England regional champs scored one each in the third, fourth and fifth innings to tie the game. But Middle Atlantic broke that tie with a run in the bottom of the fifth and held on.
Hunter Brasie went 4-2/3 innings on the mound before Mestre came in to close.
Pittsfield continues pool play on Monday night against the champions of the Midwest Plains regional.
