PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Laborers Local 473 and the Berkshire County Building and Construction Trades Council have endorsed incumbent Daniel Bianchi for a third term.

Laborers Local 473 represents 700 working men and women in the heavy and highway construction, building and trades, custodial, and pre-cast concrete industries. Local 473 Business Manager Ronald E. Holmes cited Bianchi's commitment to economic development the cornerstone of their endorsement.

According to Holmes, "the mayor has led the enormous effort to secure millions of dollars to create the Berkshire Innovation Center, the creation of his Small Business Fund within City Hall, the one-stop shop for permitting, and the expansion of Market Rate Housing Programs in Pittsfield.

"These initiatives have already and will benefit our workforce. In addition, the mayor's support and vision for small businesses is another key component of why Local 473 believes that mayor Bianchi is the best choice to continue leading our city.

"Mayor Bianchi's support of our public school system and support of a new Taconic High School, is proof that Mayor Bianchi has demonstrated a strong support of education and vocational programs that directly benefit our future workforce. We appreciate that the next generation will be coming into the workforce properly equipped and prepared to join our industry. We also recognize that some of these initiatives will produce good paying jobs in our community.

"In conclusion, Mayor Bianchi's core values of hard work, commitment and sacrifice, exemplifies those of the proud hardworking men and women of Local 473."

The Berkshire County Building & Construction Trades represents thousands of workers throughout the area and includes members from trades such as electricians, carpenters, laborers, pipe fitters, iron workers, asbestos workers and operating engineers.

"The Berkshire County Building and Construction Trades Council is honored to announce its endorsement for Mayor Dan Bianchi in his re-election bid for mayor of the city of Pittsfield. Dan has begun to do exactly what he said he would do and lead the city to a better future. With projects like the Berkshire Innovation Center and the new Taconic High School, the city of Pittsfield is on the right path. The very heart of our city will benefit from Mayor Bianchi's leadership - our children, local businesses and working families. He has consistently demonstrated as our mayor that he is right person for the job. We the members of Berkshire County Building and Construction Trades Council endorse his re-election," said President Timothy Craw.
