To the Editor:

I'm running for councilor at large because for the past four years I have missed representing the people of Pittsfield and I have had many people encouraging me to run again. I want to be working on citywide initiatives and citywide solutions to the problems we face.

As a former Ward 2 city councilor, i hope to be able to assist our ward councilors with projects in our neighborhoods that benefit the whole city. I enjoy working collaboratively with residents, businesses, elected officials and city employees to get things done.

We are lucky to be in a city with arts, culture, sports and natural beauty. I take every opportunity to enjoy what Pittsfield has to offer. Living and working here is great but we have issues too. I look forward to taking on our city's challenges. Pittsfield needs good paying jobs as well as trained employees, we need to reduce crime and poverty while working to attract people here to increase our population. Everyone needs to feel safe and to be able to find a job. The city council, working with the mayor can help foster the environment for job growth and public safety, which includes well maintained roads. We can only address these issues by taking on the issues and not each other. Together we can make Pittsfield a better place to live and work.

Since being off the council I have had great conversations with Pittsfield residents and businesses that I would like to continue as regular larger community conversations to advise me on what the community sees as continuing issues that need addressing. I admit I don't have the magic answers, but I have two ears and one mouth so I will listen twice as much as I talk. I will continue to be a strong advocate for our residents and businesses. The biggest issues facing our city require councilors at large that know our whole city and can see the big picture of what needs to be done, I see that big picture.

We all need to be Pittsfield Proud and promoters of all the good in Pittsfield.

Elect me and, I promise that Pittsfield will have a councilor at large who is approachable, accessible and dedicated to improving our community. Because of my continuing service I ask for one of your four votes for councilor at large on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
