PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city's Christmas tree was installed at Park Square on Monday afternoon.
It took only minutes to swing the fir tree donated by the Lyman family of Pittsfield into place amongst the waving American flags currently on display in the park.
The tree will be lighted on Friday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m.
The annual event is being sponsored by Republic Services and will feature the Taconic High School chorus, which will perform a variety of carols, and hot chocolate courtesy of Patrick's Pub. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive following the tree lighting.
Those planning to attend the ceremony are asked to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Christian Center's food pantry.
