Enjoy over a dozen different art shows featuring work by over 20 accomplished regional artists in Pittsfield's bustling Upstreet Cultural District during the First Fridays Artswalk and all month long!

In most venues, artists will be present from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, March 4th. Join us for a free guided tour beginning at 5pm at the Intermodal Center @ BRTA, 1 Columbus Ave. 

The fun doesn't stop at 8! Join us for the Afterwalk Party from 8-10 pm at the Whitney Center for the Arts, 42 Wendell Ave. Live music will be provided by singer/songwriter Alan Monasch and guest performer Jordan Franklin. Free and open to the public!

Curated by a small group of local baseball enthusiasts, the history of baseball in the county will be on display at the Berkshire Historical Society's headquarters, Arrowhead, through May 2. More than 280 items will be on view.

The Sanctuary's BINGO! Gallery will hold an opening reception for an exhibition by the late ceramic artist John ffrench, with music by Duo Eamon from 5-6pm, and a traditional corned beef dinner available by reservation only at 6:30pm. In addition, there will be a screening of the film John ffrench - A Life in Colour at 7:30pm.

Winter is a great time of year to explore the sanctuary with your family. If you've never snowshoed, let us introduce you to this fun winter activity. You'll learn about equipment and safety, and then head out for a ramble through wetlands and gentle slopes. Warm up with hot cocoa at the end! Suitable for adults and children ages 5-12. On December 27, 2007 Pittsfield Police Captain John T. O'Neil had his last roll call, but his passion for the police force didn't die. O'Neil has dedicated his retirement to writing many collections of stories to which he was privy during his 40 year service. He will give a talk and share his new book, 50 Murders - History of the Pittsfield Police.

During the month of March (the 4th, 11th, and 25th), Dottie's will host a series of Burlesque Life Drawing sessions. Draw and post a piece or two on the wall before you leave. All art will be for sale and all sales will go directly to the Elizabeth Freeman Center. We ask all drawing participants to leave a piece to go on the wall for sale. We have limited supplies (some boards, crayons and newsprint pads), feel free to bring your own supplies.

The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires' Connecting with Community series presents "Chair Yoga" with certified Kripalu yoga teacher, Robin Seeley. This gentle, unique yoga style is practiced sitting in a chair, so students are able to warm up the body safely and perform poses with support and stability. Students will learn a variety of yoga postures and breathing techniques that will help increase flexibility, strength, and health.  Chair yoga is suitable for all ages, fitness levels, and physical conditions.

The Receiver is brothers Casey (keyboards, bass, vocals) and Jesse Cooper (drums, vocals) from Columbus, OH. Formed in 2005, the band recorded its debut album, Decades, in 2006, and the follow-up album, Length of Arms, in 2009. The Receiver is now touring behind its third album, All Burn, released to critical acclaim last year.
