PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Police are offering to make sure child safety seats are properly installed.

 

In conjunction with the Safe Kids Coalition, police will be conduction a "child safety seat checkpoint" at Berkshire Crossings on Sunday. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. officers, who have been trained as child safety seat technicians, will be available for any one who wishes to have their child safety seats inspected for sizing, fit, and installation.

 

Further, a "select number" of seats will be available for distribution.

 

"It is recommended, though not necessary, that children from whom the seat is intended, and the seat owner's manual, be present," police wrote in an announcement of the event.

 

The Dalton Police Department and Action Ambulance will also be on hand assisting.
