PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Pittsfield Police Department Officers Union IBPO Local 447 will be conducting a fundraising campaign beginning Sunday evening, Sept. 25.

The drive will be conducted by employees from the fundraising company TCI America Inc. They will be contacting businesses and residents soliciting for donations.

The most recent fundraiser in the spring of this year has allowed the union to re-implement the IBPO Local 447 Memorial Scholarship program that was awarded to nine individuals from the area who will be attending college this fall. This scholarship is meant to assist them with some tuition costs in addition to study materials. The monies raised have also allowed the union to contribute to various community organizations and sponsored youth sports and events, high school arts and music programs and Special Olympic events.

Donations from businesses and residents will greatly help the union continue this work, said Investigator Andrew Couture, president.

Residents and businesses that donate during the fall fundraising campaign will also receive complimentary tickets for a comedy show featuring Boston-area comedians at the Berkshire Hills Country Club on Nov. 4 at 8. Additional tickets will also be on sale at the door for $15 each. Businesses donating will also be recognized in the program at the event.

At no time will any officers or members of the Pittsfield Police Department be contacting residents asking for donations. Under no circumstances will employees of TCI be asking residents to leave any monies or checks at their residence unattended for pickup by representatives of TCI. Never leave anything of value unattended at your residence for pick-up.

If any businesses or residents receive those requests, or has any other questions about the fundraiser, they can call  413-448-9700 Couture at Ext. 370 or Investigator John Mazzeo, treasurer, at Ext. 391.
