It was an amazing weekend last week for Soccer Domain Academy, which earned maximum points with teams playing at Berkshire Community College and those travelling around the state.

U11 Girls
After a tough start to the season, the girls looked better organized and more disciplined, limiting the visitor’s attacks. SDA took their chances well and went into the break ahead 1-0.

SDA continued this performance into the start of the second half, remaining defensively organized as well as the midfield looking to win the ball back quickly and high up the field. Through this hard work SDA claimed its second goal, winning the ball on the halfway line before creating another excellent break on the goal to make it 2-0.

GPS came back into the game, making it 2-1, but SDA showed its level of resilience and work rate both in and out of possession to the final whistle and were merited with a well-deserved third goal with around 10 minutes of the game to go. From here SDA showed their ability to kill a game off limiting GPS to very few half chances on goal

U13 Girls
After achieving a 100 percent record so far this season, the girls went into the game determined to keep the run going. The turf at the facility was very fast, and the rain didn’t help matters as the ball just ran away from players.

The away side started fairly well, and looked like it would have more of the ball throughout the game, however it soon got scrappy with possession being handed over prematurely from both teams. Best FC found itself winning most of the aerial battles but short on chance. The hosts sometimes found themselves under pressure as SDA pushed forward looking for an opener. Soon, Best FC took its first chance of the game to gain the lead.
SDA responded well and got the ball into wide areas well. The visitors were having less success in these areas than normal due to the conditions however before half time a set ball to the edge of the box, and a great strike found its way into the back of the net. Going into half-time, SDA was on top but seemed to have more gears to go through.

During the early stages of the second half, it seemed that the game was deemed to continue in the same manner, the teams struggled to keep possession, judging the first touch with hesitation meant the ball bouncing off feet into space in front of them.

Throughout the course of the second half both teams created chances and had opportunities to score. SDA found the breakthrough midway into the second half to make it 2-1 to the visitors. A sound defensive performance seen the game out and earned another valuable three points for SDA.

U14 Girls
Another strong performance from the girls saw us run out comfortable 8-1 winners. The field itself was not suitable for an 11-on-11 game, but despite the limited space SDA was able to move the ball with some precision and purpose. They were a constant threat going forward and due to the conditions played more direct than usual.

The visitors played some excellent balls in from the fullback positions and the wide players were very direct. Both these things put them on the back foot and meant that most of the game their defenders were under pressure. The visitors created and took many chances to gain a convincing half time lead.

In the second half, the game started to become less and less competitive and SDA took the chance to rotate players, structure and positions, the girls continued their competent performance in the new system, this is always good for a coach to see as it declares that there are numerous options available.

U11 Boys
In the first half, SDA played some excellent soccer, moving the ball around very well. The hosts put together a lot of combinations in the final third and built out from the back to a good standard this showed in the score line as the U11’s took a commanding lead into the half-time break

The hosts continued to dominate the game throughout the second half creating numerous goal scoring opportunities and maintaining possession very well. The home team further extended their lead. SDA then switched player’s positions and as a result lost a bit of shape, however a another very convincing performance saw the hosts coast to victory once again, final score 7-1.

U12 Boys
In the early stages SDA looked very relaxed and confident, with some changes made to positions structure the visitors settled into a rhythm really well and showed great understanding of individual roles. With more space and time on the ball due to a bigger field, it allowed SDA the time to start to work the ball around, they created chances by linking up well and moved the ball competently in all areas of the field.

The first half was dominated by SDA in all areas and it managed to get on the score sheet early, the visitors played smart and decisive soccer, controlling the pace of the game in midfield and kept great shape and discipline in the defensive areas.

The second half was a little more pressure placed on the team, as the SFC chased an equalizer the visitor’s resilience was tested. After holding off for a period of time they eventually conceded. The remainder of the game was very balanced, however SDA’s persistent battling attitude was rewarded with an outstanding winning goal.

U13 Boys
Unfortunately, due to Abbey Villa being unable to field a team on this specific date they dropped out of the games, resulting in a forfeit and 3-0 SDA win.

U14 Boys
This week, the U14 Boys faced FC Stars on a cold night under the lights. The 6:30 p.m. kickoff was delayed, getting under way at about 7 p.m.

SDA dominated in the early stages moving the ball well and looked solid in defense, with a few players absent the visitors played players in different positions again really showing their diversity. For all the possession and attacks created the visitors seemed to struggle to finish of the moves. At times SDA held the ball too long and engaged in a lot of one-on-one dribbling, although it was controlling the game quicker decisions and more composure could have rewarded them with numerous goals.

The second half was much like the first, but SDA found a bit more cutting edge in the final third, starting to move the ball a little quicker in the changed the formation of 4-2-3-1 to allow for the build up to come from deeper and create more space in front of their back four.
The SDA goals came from good smart play and the desire to drive and attack space. Overall a good 4-2 win and three points to add to the tally.
