Weyessa “Ace” McAlister competes for Trinity College earlier this season.

Weyessa “Ace” McAlister is making a big impact on the Trinity College men’s cross country team this fall.

The 2015 Monument Mountain graduate, who did a post-graduate year at Northfield Mount Hermon, placed 11th for the Bantams on Saturday at the Connecticut College Invitational in Waterford, Conn.

His 8-kilometer time of 25 minutes, 11 seconds was about a minute off the pace set by the meet’s winner. But McAlister finished 28 places ahead of the next member of his Trinity team, which finished in the middle of the field, ninth out of 20 schools.

Earlier this season, the Great Barrington resident was named one of the school’s Bantams of the Week after winning the Trinity College Men’s Cross Country Invitational with a time of 16:18 in the 5K.

Wahconah graduate Evan Garvey is the leading receiver on the Westfield State football team. The Owls freshman has 21 catches for 248 yards (11.8 yards per catch) and a pair of touchodwns. He also has returned six kicks for 103 yards for 2-4 Westfield. On Saturday, Garvey caught a 9-yard TD in the Owls’ 24-21 loss to Massachusetts Maritime.

Springfield College freshman Chad Shade (Pittsfield) ran the ball one time for 5 yards in the Pride’s 70-47 win over Rochester on Saturday. With 47 points allowed, it was not the kind of day Springfield’s defense will want to long remember, but Dominic Traversa (Pittsfield) had seven tackles, including one tackle for a loss, and broke up a pass attempt.

At this weekend’s North Atlantic Conference Golf Championships in Bangor, Maine, Hoosac Valley graduate and Salem State University Chad Alibozek finished the two-round event at 6-over-par to place fifth in a 40-golfer field. His score led the Vikings to a second-place finish behind host Husson University.

MCLA’s golfers were seventh at the event with junior Matt Lawrence (Drury) leading the way at 9-over, which tied him for ninth place. Lawrence moved up from a 15th-place tie after day one by carding a 3-over 74 in Sunday’s second round at Bangor Municipal Golf Course. Freshmen Nick Bator and Doug Sigsbury, both Drury grads, also competed for the Trailblazers.

Wentworth College sophomore back and Pittsfield High graduate Taylor Patti has played in 10 games for the Leopards, who are 10-3-2 and allowing an average of .71 goals per game. On Saturday, she helped Wentworth earn a 5-0 win over Gordon, a program that was 12-0 all-time against the Leopards coming in. Wentworth is in first place in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 5-0-1 league record.

Another former General, Allie Supranowicz, has a goal and three assists this fall at Union College, where the Dutchwomen are 6-3-4. Supranowicz, a junior, has started all 13 games. Over the weekend, she had five shots in a pair of league games -- both ties -- against St. Lawrence and Clarkson. Union has not lost since starting the season 0-3.

Yet another Pittsfield soccer alumna, Amanda Wright, scored a goal earlier this month in Springfield College’s 3-0 win over Wheaton. Wright has one goal and one assist in 11 games for the Pride, which is 7-4-2.

The MCLA women earned their first MASCAC win of the fall on Saturday, and Hoosac Valley graduate Megan Richardson made two saves to earn the shutout in a 1-0 victory over Mass Maritime. Senior back Marisa Sprague (Wahconah) and sophomore back Lauren Mangiardi (Taconic) each had a shot on goal for the Trailblazers in the win -- as did junior forward Aleah Sangiovanni (Pittsfield).

St. Joseph graduate and Daniel Webster College senior Madeline Roulier is second on her team in kills, averaging 2.39 kills per set, for a squad that is 16-7 following three wins in three outings over the weekend.
