PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Soccer Domain Academy's travel teams managed four wins in five matches on the road around the commonwealth the weekend of Oct. 22 and 23.

U11 Girls
From the outset, SDA controlled the game with greater amount of possession leading to a range of opportunities for SDA to score. The organized and structured defending limited GPS to very few attacking opportunities. SDA took the lead around 10 minutes before the break following another exciting attacking play by the team.

As the second half got under way, SDA continued to maintain the ball and achieve a higher possession percentage, the visitors created opportunities but couldn’t convert. GPS took full advantage of a chance and got themselves back into the game after winning the ball high up the field. SDA started battling harder and harder, moving the ball quicker which led to them taking the lead again midway through the half.

From here SDA controlled all aspects of the game retaining the ball well and creating chance after chance. The visitors finally killed the game off with a third goal with just more than 10 minutes left to earn a 3-1 win.

U13 Girls
After a difficult loss last week and a journey to Holliston, Mass., for this week’s game, SDA were determined to bounce back and gain three points. The visitors started very strongly putting GPS under constant pressure, creating numerous chances but struggling to capitalize.

After just more than 10 minutes of creating chance after chance, SDA finally found the break through and followed it up with a quick fire second goal. The visitors looked confident and good on the attack, it seemed like they would go on to score more and more goals. A rare GPS attack led to a penalty call, the spot kick was converted by the hosts to bring them back into the game at 2-1.

After GPS’s strike back SDA continued to dominate and got two more goals by the end of the half, to go into the break with the score GPS 1-4 SDA.

The second half began and SDA started confidently, throughout the early stages they were still very much on top, adding a 5th goal to the collection. Throughout the remainder of the half SDA started to get slightly complacent, losing a bit of discipline and leaving big holes between the midfield and defense. Having said this, the visitors were still dominant on the attack and got joy from this adding another two goals for a 7-1 win.

U14 Girls
SDA started very strongly and created early clear cut chances to score, frustratingly for the visitors they conceded on the home team’s first attack and went 1-0 down. Soon later SDA found itself down, 2-0, but continued to go forward and create countless chances. Going into the second half SDA looked certain to keep creating and get themselves back into the game after amazingly being 2-0 down at half time.

SDA continued to get into dangerous areas but continued to struggle with execution, throughout the game the visitors had around 10 1v1’s with the goalkeeper whilst the hosts had three chances to score. Regardless of how well a team plays, if you don’t take chances you won’t win games and today was a perfect example of that.

SDA is now unlikely to top the league at the end of the season but to outplay a team that to very likely to is a credit to this side.

U12 Boys First Game
As the game was on turf, the visitors struggled to come to terms with the conditions and over hit several passes, at times struggling to secure the ball in possession.

In breezy conditions SDA could have adapted quicker but the environment wasn't conducive to great soccer. Considering this, a pretty good brand of soccer was played throughout the game. The hosts worked hard but SDA struggled to get into a rhythm and didn't stretch them defensively and in the middle third.

Once the first goal was scored you could see that the floodgates could open. The visitors started to dominate in wide areas and played controlled balls into the middle third. At times their movement meant that the only outlet was wide however they were very positive and direct which caused the fullbacks problems the entire game. SDA started delivering some great balls from wide into dangerous areas. Although they could have had a bit more quality from wide we were a constant threat and they struggled to deal with balls in the box. A number of goals came from this area of the game with some very well taken finishes.

The second half was very one sided and it looked like the visitors could really run up the score. At the back SDA kept our composure and were very rarely threatened. The result was never in doubt and despite the dominance you still felt that they could have stepped it up a gear if required.

U12 Boys Second Game
In a weekend that had the SDA U12 boys play a double-header we headed to Marlborough for our second game against a strong GPS team.

With a few sickness and injuries, the team had to play two games with only three subs and needed to find that second wind to compete with a good competitive team. The visitors played well against not only the team but also the elements with a strong wind that had an effect on the game for both teams.

SDA battled hard and worked tirelessly in their second game of the day then it did not show, we created chances with quick play, I felt that we were tough and defended valiantly though the whole game, it was a great team effort but also some great individual performance from every player.

The game was fast paced and in the early stages end to end it took a little while for the visitors to get into their grove but with great shape and structure SDA started to control the game. SDA won many 1v1 battles and put the pressure on their opponents. They moved the ball well and controlled play, scoring some great goals and showed both the desire and commitment needed to push to the next level.
