ONGOING Holiday Events in Downtown Pittsfield

The 3rd Annual Upstreet Holiday Festival will feature a visit from Santa, Roaming Railroad train rides, a cookie-decorating station and more this Saturday, Dec. 17 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts at 28 Renne Ave.
Buy art this holiday season at one of the three Pop-up Art Galleries downtown. Many of the artists will be on hand during gallery hours: Thursdays-Saturdays from 12-6 p.m. through Dec. 23.
Artists Sean McCusker, Morris Bennett and Anne Roland are at 139 North St. with painting demos with Sean Fridays & Saturdays 4-6 p.m. and 5-minute portraits with Morris Thursdays 12-6 p.m. & Fridays 12-3 p.m. Marguerite Bride and Scott Taylor are at 437 North St. Diane Firtell, Carrie Converse, Donna Todd Rivers and others are at 431 North St. They'll be joined by BigHead Books, Things that Work, Maya Ananda, Michael Vincent Bushy and Analesa Berg for a Special Open House this Saturday, Dec. 17 from 12-6 p.m.

The BOOM Room, at 137 North St. (Crawford Square), welcomes Boston-based indie folk/rock duo Jack & Katie, plus guitarist and singer/songwriter Jordan Franklin. Doors are at 5 p.m., with live music from 6-8 p.m.
This is also the night of the BOOM Raffle, where you could win studio/recording time, CD duplication, a Mitchell electric guitar or a 6-week songwriting workshop. Tickets are only $5 and winners will be announced the following day.

Berkshire Music School presents the Teen Voices Season Concert at Taft Recital Hall, 30 Wendell Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 6:30 p.m. Coffee and desserts will be served.

Berkshire Running Center will kick off the grand opening of its new location with the Jingle Bell Fun Run, which will raise money for the Eagle Santa Toy Fund and the Mary Wilk Memorial Fund. Remember to dress in your bells, antlers and favorite elf outfit for this fun, non-competitive, community event.

BTG will be holding a winter coat drive. Donations of gently worn coats, to help local families in need, may be made at the theatre.

What does the new parking meter system mean for you? Learn more about it, including a link to an interactive parking map, at the City of Pittsfield website. Monday through Friday metered parking rates are $1 per hour for on-street parking from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and 50 cents per hour for the Columbus Ave. garage and lots from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The first 30 minutes in all metered areas are free. There is no metered parking on weekends.
