PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Six Miss Hall's School musicians and vocalists, including students from Glendale and Pittsfield, have successfully auditioned for the Massachusetts Music Educators Association's (MMEA) Western District Festival Concert to be held in January.

Sophomore Trudy Fadding of Glendale was selected to play cello, and freshwoman Ria Kedia of Pittsfield was selected to play violin in the festival's District Orchestra. Trudy and Ria will be joined in the orchestra by violinists Fah Lohprasert, a senior from Thailand; Meigue Mollaioli, a senior from Italy; and Se Ri Park, a senior from South Korea. Soprano Daisy Zhou, a senior from China, was selected to sing in the District Chorus. This is Meigue's second appearance and Se Ri’s third time performing in the prestigious concert.

The girls successfully auditioned in early November to perform in the Senior Festival Concert, which will be held at 3 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 14 (snow date Jan. 17), at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

MHS has participated for more than 30 years in the festival, which is sponsored by the Massachusetts Music Educators Association, the state division of the National Association for Music Education (formerly the Music Educators National Conference). The MMEA sponsors annual District and State Music Senior Festivals that are open to all secondary school musicians. Hundreds of young musicians audition annually and must score at a certain level to become a member of the District Chorus, Orchestra, Concert Band, or Jazz Band.
