THU 3rd Annual Cupcake Wars at ITAM Lodge
|
A delicious Italian dinner prepared by Pittsfield Unico at 5 p.m., will be followed by the 3rd Annual Cupcake Wars - a fun and exciting competition between local bakeries. Linda's Pastries, Cakewalk Bakery & Cafe, Gimme Some Sugar and others will compete for the best cupcake in the following categories: Best Tasting, Best Presentation, Most Creative, and People's Choice. The cost to attend is $30 in advance and $35 at the door. This includes both dinner and cupcake tasting! All proceeds support National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Berkshire County, a nonprofit organization that provides information, referrals, classes, workshops, support groups and advocacy to family members and caregivers of people living with mental illnesses throughout the Berkshires. 5:30-8 p.m.

Berkshire Theatre Group presents "Remember When Rock Was Young: The Elton John Tribute," starring Craig A. Meyer. Award-winning actor/singer Meyer uses his uncanny musical abilities to celebrate the character, costumes and charisma of the famed Elton John. The Colonial Theatre at 7 p.m. Tickets: $25/$35/$45.

Join Happimess for January's Snowy Craft Classes at The Colonial. Beginning at 9:30 a.m., the group will read two stories and work on two projects. Best for ages 3-5 (although toddlers through age 7 are welcome!) Each child is $10, parents are free. Scholarships available based on need.

Berkshire Bike & Board welcomes local yoga instructor Mary Hannah Parkman, who will lead a series of stretches that will complement your cycling. This free series will be held on 1/27, 2/10 and 2/24 and will teach simple stretches to ease tightness in legs, hips, back and shoulders.

The Funky Phoenix, at 441 North Street, will offer a workshop where you'll be able to custom paint your own cast-iron bottle opener. Pick from a slew of paint colors to add to your creation! All bottle openers and necessary materials will be provided. $10. 6-8 p.m.

The Pittsfield Rotary's largest fundraiser of the year is here! The Rotary Auction will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, beginning with a preview of the 300 live and silent acution items at 5 p.m. and the live auction starting at 6:30 p.m. Get your groove on! Check your closet and come in your grooviest bell bottoms! Money raised goes to local charities. $10 at the door.

Berkshire Yoga, Dance & Fitness welcomes life design coach Laurie Coyle for a special Future Mapping Workshop from 1:30-3 p.m.
Use writing exercises and guided meditation, as well as proven methods from "The Artist's Way" and "The Desire Map" to chart a doable, step-by-step course to get you from where you are o where you want to be. Pre-registration is required. $29.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE PARKING METER PLAN

1. Always enter your license plate number - even for the FREE first 30 minutes.
2. On-street parking is $1 per hour; lot parking is 50 cents per hour. There are also nearly 400 free parking spaces on the city's side streets.
3. You can pay by coin, credit card, or by downloading the Passport parking app.
4. You do not need to display the parking receipt on your dashboard.
5. Parking is FREE on evenings and weekends!
