Enjoy a dozen different art shows featuring work by over 20 accomplished regional artists in Pittsfield's bustling Upstreet Cultural District during the First Friday Artswalk and all month long! In most venues, artists will be present from 5-8 p.m. A free guided tour begins at 5 p.m. at the Intermodal Center @ BRTA, 1 Columbus Ave.

Berkshire Theatre Group presents Rev Tor & Friends' 6th Annual Dead of Winter Jam. This mid-winter celebration of the music of The Grateful Dead will feature a multitude of local and beloved guest artists, including members of Rebel Alliance, The Whiskey Treaty Roadshow, Misty Blues and more. Thursday, February 9, The Colonial Theatre, 8 p.m. Tickets: $12/$15 at the door. A food drive at this event will collect non-perishables for local pantries in need.

WordxWord/Outspoken will hold free weekly workshops with Natalia Whalen, Grace Rossman and special guests, beginning this Friday at The Berkshire Museum. The workshops offer a space where teens and young adults can speak and be heard, where a shared love of writing and performing creates bonds rather than boundaries. 4:30-6 p.m. Pre-registration required.

Berkshire Running Center, at 34 Depot Street, presents a pre-game training workshop. There will be a 30-minute run, followed by a 30-minute bike ride, and finishing with a quick 30-minute strength and core workout. 9:30 a.m.

Berkshire Paint & Sip, at 305 North Street, invites you to live it up with friends while painting "Tree of Life." All painting materials, wine and light snack included. $30. 6-9 p.m.

The Berkshire Writers Room, located at 137 North Street in the BOOM Room (in the Crawford Square plaza) will hold an all-genre writing workshop from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Bring a few typed copies of a work (about 1500 words) you'd like to share. You control how much, if any, feedback you'd like to obtain. Some authors only wish to present their work, some wish to have extensive feedback.

Berkshire Athenaeum welcomes local baker Brandi Scalise, author of the new book Cookie Classics Made Easy: One-Bowl Recipes, Perfect Results. She'll prepare a recipe from her cookbook, and a tasting will follow. Free. 7 p.m.

The Berkshire International Film Festival (BIFF), Mountainside Treatment Center and Berkshire Humane's Purradise present a community screening of a film directed by Roger Spottiswoode (Turner & Hooch, And The Band Played On, Tomorrow Never Dies).
Based on the best-selling book, the film tells the true story of James Bowen, a young British street singer struggling with addiction, and his remarkable road to recovery thanks to the unexpected arrival of a stray ginger tom cat.
After the screening, there will be a discussion and Q&A session with the film's director, its screenwriter Maria Nation, and Jessica Dunn who will discuss Mountainside's work.
