MONT-TREMBLANT, Quebec -- Two local junior skiers Sunday wrapped up a successful weekend at the Can-Am Under-14 event at Mont-Tremblant Ski Resort.
Tait Kline, who skis for Jiminy Peak, and Michael Mansfield-Allessio, who attends Pittsfield High and skis for Berkshire East, represented their respective clubs at the event, which drew more than 70 skiers from both sides of the border.
On Sunday, Mansfield placed 28th in the slalom competition with a two-run time of 1 minute, 41.33 seconds. Kline was 39th in 1?46.19.
Sunday's winner, Mathis Lafond of Quebec, finished his two runs in 1:35.81.
In Saturday's giant slalom competition, won by Stratton Mountain's Jay Poulter in 1:41.96, Kline and Mansfield placed 26th and 27th, respectively, separted by 28 hundredths of a second. Kline finished his two runs in 1:47.58; Mansfield clocked a combined time of 1:47.86.
The action began with a Super-G on Thursday. In that competiton, Kline finished 37th in 1:09.80, and Mansfield did not finish. Poulter was second on Thursday, finishing just behind his Stratton teammate, Erik Holm, who won with a time of 1:06.55.
