PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire County Arc  President & CEO Kenneth W. Singer received the prestigious Joseph Andrade Award for Leadership from the Arc of Massachusetts on Thursday, April 6, at its annual meeting.

The Sheraton Hotel Framingham was full of many supporters as Singer accepted the award. Twelve of BCArc’s staff, BCArc self-advocate Margaret, and Singer’s wife Christine, along with family members, were present as Kenneth stepped up to the podium.

He thanked the Arc with humility and emotion as he accepted his award.

“I’m as excited to go to work today as I was 37 years ago, and that’s the truth. Who else can be lucky enough to go to work every day with the goal to make people’s lives happier, and make them have enriched lives? It’s wonderful. I am a lucky person,” he said. “I thank all of you for making that possible; without you, and the 700 staff at Berkshire County Arc I would not be standing up here.”

Singer started at Berkshire County Arc in 1980 as a residential coordinator. In 1994 he became the executive director, and has been President & CEO for the last three years.
