The Funk Box Studio and Cultural Pittsfield present the grand finale of April's Hip-Hop Month at the Lichtenstein Center! On Saturday, April 29, celebrate the positive aspects of hip-hop in the community. The four elements of hip-hop - MC-ing, DJ-ing, breakdancing and graffiti art - will all be on display. Enjoy performances by Nostalgia (a local group of MCs that have opened for Biz Markie), The Funk Box Studio kids, breakdance competitions for kids and adults, and more! 
 
From 1-4 p.m., hone your skills in one or all three breakdance workshops, and then enter or watch the competitions. Winners will receive cash prizes and Funk Box clothing!

Berkshire Theatre Group presents its 
brand-new $10 Music Garage Series, a collaboration with Common Folk Artist Collective. The first concert will feature the critically acclaimed, experimental dream-pop band Arc Iris. Francesca Shanks opens. 8 p.m.

TUE Summer Shape-Up at Berkshire Yoga Dance
Berkshire Yoga, Dance & Fitness presents a Summer Shape-Up 8-week series with ACE-certified personal trainer Tammy Rose. The class will meet every Tuesday and Thursday, from 6-7 a.m., from May 2 to June 22. The cost is $160 for the entire series or a drop-in rate of $12 per class.

SUN Not Your Average Dog Show at BCC

The 16th annual Not Your Average Dog Show will be held at the Berkshire Community College main campus in The Paterson Field House beginning at 11:30 a.m. A $20 donation to the BCC Annual Fund gives you the option to show your dog in two categories. As always, admission is free for spectators.

Dwelling on his past glory as a prize-winning author, Ryota wastes the money he makes as a private detective on gambling and can barely pay child support. After the death of his father, his aging mother and ex-wife seem to be moving on with their lives. The Deadlines For Submissions Are Approaching!
In solidarity with the national Nasty Women's art movement, a Berkshire Nasty Women exhibit will be presented at the Colonial Theatre from May 4 - May 14. All proceeds will be donated to the ACLU or League of Women Voters at purchasers' discretion. Submit your piece before May 1!
 
The Berkshire County Historical Society at Herman Melville's Arrowhead will feature "Enchanted Berkshires: Where Fairies Dance" - a full slate of programs that will include an exhibit of one-of-a-kind, artist-created fairy houses. Be a part of the show! Submissions must be mailed in by May 8.

Pittsfield's city-owned community arts center, the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, features nine working artist studios, a ceramics studio, a community room and an art gallery with changing exhibitions, classes, performances + more!

Andres Ramirez of The Funk Box Dance Studio has curated a show of regional graffiti artists as part of the Funkdation Hip Hop Art Festival. Live performances and an artists' reception will be part of the Funkdation Festival on Saturday, April 29.
  INFORMATION ABOUT THE PARKING METER PLAN
Five things to remember about the new downtown parking system:
 
1. Always enter your license plate number - even for the FREE first 30 minutes.
 
2. On-street parking is $1 per hour; lot parking is 50 cents per hour. There are also nearly 400 free parking spaces on the city's side streets.
 
3. You can pay by coin, credit card, or by downloading the Passport parking app.
 
4. You do not need to display the parking receipt on your dashboard.
 
5. Parking is FREE on evenings and weekends!
