DALTON, Mass. -- Evan Blake went 3-for-4, and Chase Racine and Collin Merwin each homered Tuesday to lead the Pittsfield American League to an 11-4 win over the Pittsfield Nationals in the the Don Gleason District 1 Little League Tournament for ages 10-12.
The Americans jumped out to a 7-1 lead with a four-run fourth inning that featured Merwin's homer and singles by Blake, Zach Pupo and Antonio Scalise.
Later, Blake doubled in a four-run fifth inning.
The Nationals did most of their damage in a three-run fifth that started with a one-out solo home run by Matt Lee. Tyler Gaudette walked and scored a run, and Nick Guachione singled and scored in the rally.
The Americans advance to the championship round of the double-elimination tournament. The Nationals must win in Thursday's finale of the losers bracket to stay alive.
