RUTLAND, Mass. -- Holden's Sean Verrier hit a walkoff home run with two out in the bottom of the sixth Thursday to hand the Pittsfield National League Little League All-Stars an 8-7 loss in the sectional tournament.

 

The Pittsfield NL falls into the losers bracket of the double-elimination tournament and will host either Leominster or Westfield (who also played Thursday) on Friday at 5:30 at Clapp Park for a berth in the championship round.

 

"We're gonna stay positive and live to play another day," Pittsfield NL coach Darren Lee said.

 

Tyler Gaudette gave up two runs in 5-2/3 innings on the mound, but Holden's two-out rally proved to be the difference.

 

Dontae Stanton homered, and Matt Lee had a pair of doubles for the Nats, who got a single and a double from Nick Guachione.
