The Berkshire Athenaeum will celebrate 
the first American woman in space on her birthday, May 26! At 10 a.m., enjoy a space-themed story time geared toward youngsters. From 1-3 p.m., school-age youths are invited to take part in activities at the space stations. The entire family is welcome at each event.

NOW Typhoid Mary at Barrington Stage
This is the true story of Mary Mallon, a.k.a. Typhoid Mary. One of the most infamous women in America, she was stubborn, ambitious, and in fierce denial of any wrongdoing. This searing drama captures the controversy surrounding Mary and her conviction in her beliefs. Master storyteller Mark St. Germain has captured the woman behind the myths while exploring the battle between science and religion. Barrington Stage Company's St. Germain Stage through June 16.

THU Mark Twain: An American Life at the Library
Berkshire Athenaeum welcomes singer and entertainer Judy Cook as she presents Mark Twain: An American Life 1835-1910. You'll see photos of the day and works of art. Judy, in costume, will read quotes and excerpts from Twain's writings, play tunes of the time, and sing songs that were written during his lifetime. The themes are timeless: joy and sorrow, humor, courage and love. 7 p.m.

Pittsfield's city-owned community arts center, the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, features nine working artist studios, a ceramics studio, a community room and an art gallery with changing exhibitions, classes, performances and more!

The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts will present the annual Art in Our Schools exhibit, a 30-plus-year tradition held each spring honoring art education and creative young people. Art from students in grades 6 through 12 in the Pittsfield Public Schools will be on display throughout the month of May.
