PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Aidan Carlino had two hits and two RBIs and earned the win on the mound Thursday as the Pittsfield American Little League All-Stars defeated Great Barringotn, 17-4, in the first game of the Don Gleason District 1 Little League Championship for 9- to 11-year-olds.
Jack Abel also had two hits and a pair of RBIs. Jack Reed and Cam Harrington each had two hits and scored three times, and Mitch Hall had a pair of hits and scored twice.
Great Barrington's Cristan Blanchard scored twice, and Greg Kay had a hit and scored a run.
Great Barrington drops into the elminination bracket in the three-team, double-elimination tournament.
It will play the loser of Friday's winners' bracket game between the Pittsfield Nationals and Pittsfield Americans. That game is scheduled for 5:30 Friday at Deming Park.
