The Berktoberfest fundraising event is now in its 11th year! Enjoy tons of beer and food, local vendors, fun games and live music, all to benefit Ty Allan Jackson's Big Head Books and Read Or Else. 1-5 p.m. Early entry, at 12 p.m., can be had by purchasing a VIP ticket.

The Pittsfield CityJazz Festival presents six-time Grammy Award-winning jazz bassist Christian McBride. Powered by a relentless energy and a boundless love of swing, McBride's career is now blazing into its third decade. His New Jawn quartet comprises jazz musicians Josh Evans (trumpet), Marcus Strickland (saxophone) and Nasheet Waits (drums). The Berkshires Jazz Youth Ensemble will perform as special guests. The Colonial Theatre7:30 p.m. $25/$38.

Pick of the Litter follows a litter of puppies from the moment they're born and begin their quest to become guide dogs for the blind. Cameras follow them through an intense two-year odyssey as they train to become dogs whose ultimate responsibility is to protect their blind partners from harm. Along the way, they rely on dedicated individuals who train them to do amazing things in the service of their human. The stakes are high and not every dog can make the cut.

Pittsfield's city-owned community arts center, the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, features nine working artist studios, a ceramics studio, a community room and an art gallery with changing exhibitions, classes, performances and more!

From now until Nov. 16, The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts will feature Berkshire Art Association's biennial juried show, Showing Up: For Your Neighborhoods, Communities and Each Other, which address civic engagement and community. More than 30 artists from throughout the Northeast will present paintings, drawings, sculpture and photography, showing wide-ranging interpretations on the theme.
