To the editor:

Moran Top Choice For Register of Deeds Position

I am writing to express my full support for Deborah A. Moran and her candidacy for the position of register at the Northern Berkshire Registry of Deeds.

I have had the opportunity to witness her progression through life and her professional career through the years. In her early years, Deborah had the opportunity to work for three separate law firms in North Adams, Pittsfield and Williamstown, gaining the foundation for her lifelong career in the real estate field. In 1992, when the opportunity had opened for her to apply for a junior clerk position at the Registry, it was like a dream come true, and her excitement when she got hired into the office was second to none!

I watched as she navigated up through the ranks within the office through the years, all the while being fueled by her love of the work that she was fortunate enough to be a part of. In 2016, she was appointed by both the current register as well as the secretary of the commonwealth to her current position of first assistant register of deeds, essentially the "second in command" within the Registry. While her job duties and responsibilities have increased, she has taken all challenges and tasks in stride and has worked to provide the highest level of service to the office and the customers that it serves.

As a sibling to Deborah, I can personally attest to her character, work ethic, morals and integrity. She is a solid performer both within the office in her professional career as well as outside of the office as a friend and family member.

Sometimes when voters are reviewing candidates for a position, one will look at their professional qualifications and other times they will look at the personal traits and attributes. I think that in this case, Deborah is a great balanced mix that excels in each category. She brings a wealth of hands-on knowledge and experience, as well as a friendly, helpful, service-oriented demeanor that is a crucial attribute for the Register position. In all, she has four decades of experience in the real estate field with three of those decades being within the Registry of Deeds office.

This lifetime of knowledge and experience far and away qualifies her as the best candidate for this office. A full list of her other qualifications is quite extensive and too long to put within this letter, but I would encourage everyone to visit her site online to get a complete list of her qualifications, accomplishments as first assistant register and her vision for the future. Please join me in supporting Deborah in her quest for the position of register of deeds, and be sure to come out and vote on Nov. 6.

Dave Moran
