SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Reigning New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week Amanda Wright Tuesday scored a goal to help the Springfield College women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Wheaton in the first round of the NEWMAC tournament.

Wright, a graduate of Pittsfield High School, scored her ninth goal of the season in the 58th minute to give the Pride a 2-0 lead at the time.

Springfield moves on to play Emerson on Thursday in the league semi-finals.

On Monday, Wright, a Springfield senior, was recognized for her performance the week prior.

Wright was instrumental in a pair of NEWMAC victories for the Pride last week, as the maroon and white closed out the regular season with a mark of 8-2, locking up the No. 2 seed in the tournament

Wright found the back of the net in the first overtime period to lift the Pride to a 3-2 win over Wheaton on Wednesday night, before scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 win over WPI on Sunday.

Wright has six game-winning strikes this fall.
