PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Three Berkshire County students are among the six Miss Hall's School musicians and vocalists selected to perform at the Massachusetts Music Educators Association’s Western District Festival Concert in January.

Cellist Trudy Fadding, a senior from Glendale, and violinist Ria Kedia, a junior from Pittsfield, will perform with the festival's District Orchestra, and vocalist Andi Loehr, a senior from Pittsfield, will sing with the District Chorus. Additionally, vocalists Chelsie Li, a sophomore from Beijing; Scarlett Wang, a senior from Shanghai; and Riagain Wiley, a junior from the Bronx, N.Y., will sing with the District Chorus.

The Miss Hall's students were among those who successfully auditioned in early November to perform in the Senior Festival Concert, which will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan.12 (snow date of Sunday, Jan. 13), at the Fine Arts Center of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. This is Trudy’s third time performing at the festival. Riagain sang in the 2018 concert, and Ria performed in the 2017 festival.

MHS has participated for more than 30 years in the festival, which is sponsored by the Massachusetts Music Educators Association, the state division of the National Association for Music Education (formerly the Music Educators National Conference). The MMEA sponsors annual District and State Music Senior Festivals that are open to all secondary school musicians. Hundreds of young musicians audition annually and must score at a certain level to become a member of the District Chorus, Orchestra, Concert Band, or Jazz Band.
