PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Temescal Wellness will start recreational sales of marijuana on Tuesday starting at 11 a.m.

The company will be the first to sell recreational marijuana in the city and will be the second in the county. Temescal was granted its license to sell for adult use in December and is now expecting a big crowd on the first day.

The company has been serving medical marijuana patients since October in a newly constructed 3,000 square-foot facility on Callahan Drive.

For the rollout of recreational sales, the company secured more than 100 spots for the opening day and is planning to have outdoor tents and bathrooms available for customers who may be waiting in line. Parking is available at 1485 West Housatonic Street starting at 10 a.m.

The company will have a staff of 14 available on the first day to assist customers. For the first week, however, the company will only be accepting cash payments. The store will be open until 7 p.m.

Temescal is limiting purchases to 1/8 ounce of flower, two .5 gram pre-rolled joints, and one vape pen or cartridge.

The sales follow just a couple days after the county's first retailer began selling recreational. Theory Wellness in Great Barrington opened its doors on Friday.
