Preschool, Kindergarten Registrations Scheduled Around County

Berkshire County schools are starting to schedule preschool and kindergarten registration dates for the 2019-20 school year. Schools can send their information to info@iberkshires.com to be included on this list.

All students, regardless of race, religion, color, sex, gender identity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability or homelessness, have equal access to the general education program and the full range of any occupational, vocational programs offered by public school districts.

Adams/St. Stanislaus Kostka

Preschool open house and registration for 3- and 4-year-olds will be held on Tuesday, April 2, at 6 p.m. in the St. Stanislaus Kostka preschool building on Hoosac Street. Parents should call 413-743-1091 to confirm their attendance.

Kindergarten open house/registration will be held on Tuesday, April 9, at 6 p.m. in the main school building on Summer Street. Parents should confirm their attendance at 413-743-1091.

Registration forms will be available both evenings. Parents of students in grades one through eight are asked to set up an appointment with the principal by calling 413-743-1091.

Clarksburg

Children must be 5 years old as of Aug, 31, 2019. Parents should call the school office at 413-663-8735 as soon as possible if their child is eligible. Kindergarten orientation for students and parents, and a student screening, will be held at a later date. Information will follow.

Parents of 3- and 4-year-olds who have a special concern about their children have the option to make an appointment to have their youngster screened. Call the director of special education at 413-664-4655 to discuss your individual concerns.

Florida & Monroe

The Gabriel Abbott Memorial School has begun the process of registering students for the 2019-20 kindergarten and pre-kindergarten classes. Students need to be legal residents of the school district and reside with parents or guardians within the school district at the time of the opening day of school.  Parents will need to provide a copy of the student’s birth certificate, updated immunization form, and proof of residence.

Students must be 5 years of age or older on Aug. 31 in order to register for kindergarten. Students must be 3 years of age or older on Aug. 31 in order to register for pre-kindergarten. Registration and screenings for incoming kindergarten students, not already enrolled in preschool, will be held on May 3. Also on May 3, residents of Florida and Monroe can register their children for a preschool program; parents with a preschool-age child and concerns can arrange a screening by calling 413-664-6023.

Hancock

Hancock Elementary School is accepting applications for preschool for the 2019-20 school year. Children who are 3 years old as of Sept. 1, 2019, are eligible to attend the preschool program based on a lottery system with preference given to Hancock residents and currently enrolled students. Parents should call the school office at 413-738-5676 or email Jay Merselis, principal, as soon as possible if interested or to learn more.

Parents who suspect their child may have special needs and is 3 years old or older should call the Special Education Director Jenevra A. Strock at 413-698-4001 to schedule an evaluation.

Kindergarten registration is also open. Children must be 5 years old as of Sept. 1, 2019, to enter kindergarten. Parents should call the school office at 413-738-5676 or email Merselis. Screening and registration requires parents to bring their child and his/her birth certificate along with proof of residency to the school.

North Adams Preschool

North Adams Public Schools will hold prekindergarten screening all three of its preschools.

Children must be 3 or 4 years old by Aug. 31, 2019. To schedule an appointment, call Bobbi Tassone at the North Adams Public Schools Central Office at 413-776-1666. Parents should bring their child, their child's birth certificate, their child's current physical exam/immunization records, signed by their physician (must be within the last 12 months), any additional medical records for allergies or medical conditions, and proof of residency, which must include a valid driver's license or photo ID (passports are also acceptable), a copy of a utility bill within the last 60 days and either a recent mortgage bill, copy of lease/rental agreement, or letter from housing.

Screenings at Brayton Elementary will be March 19 and 20, Greylock Elementary will be March 21 and 22 and Colegrove Park Elementary will be March 26 and 27.

North Adams Kindergarten registration

North Adams Public Schools will hold kindergarten registration for all three of its schools in April.

Parents may attend and registration location that is convenient and do not need to bring their child as this is only for registration; screening will take place in June.

Children must be 5 years old by Aug. 31, 2019. Parents should bring their child's birth certificate, their child's current physical exam/immunization records, signed by their physician (must be within the last 12 months), any additional medical records for allergies or medical conditions, and proof of residency, which must include a valid driver's license or photo ID (passports are also acceptable), a copy of a utility bill within the last 60 days and either a recent mortgage bill, copy of lease/rental agreement, or letter from housing.

Registration will be held Tuesday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. at the UNO Community Center, 157 River St.; Wednesday, April 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greylock Valley Apartments, 48 Angeli St.; Wednesday, April 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the NAPS Welcome Center at Brayton Elementary School, 20 Brayton Hill Terrace; Thursday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mohawk Forest Community Center, 201 Mohawk Forest Boulevard; and Thursday, April 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the NAPS Welcome Center at Brayton Elementary School, 20 Brayton Hill Terrace.

North Adams Kindergarten screening

Kindergarten screening will be held June 3 and 4 at Colegrove Park Elementary School, June 10 and 11 at Greylock Elementary School, June 23 and 13 at Brayton Elementary School. Parents must have an appointment; call 413-776-1666.

Parents who have not yet registered their child for kindergarten can get the information about how to do that when they call.

Richmond

Richmond Consolidated School will be conducting a preschool screening for all Richmond 3- and 4-year-olds on Monday, May 20, and Friday, May 24, at the school, located at 1831 State Road in Richmond. Children who are 3 years old as of Sept. 1, 2019 are eligible to attend the preschool program based on a lottery system. Parents should call the school office at 413-698-2207 as soon as possible if their child is eligible.

Current preschool students and Richmond residents have first priority. Should there be additional openings, families from surrounding communities can apply. Parents who suspect their child may have special needs and is 3 years old or older should call the Special Education Director Jenevra A. Strock at 413-698-4001 to schedule an evaluation.

Kindergarten screening and registration will be held on Monday, May 20, and Friday, May 24. Children must be 5 years old as of Sept. 1, 2019, to enter kindergarten. Parents should call the school office at 413-698-2207 as soon as possible if their child is eligible for kindergarten. Screening and registration requires parents to bring their child and his/her birth certificate along with proof of residency to the school.

Savoy

Emma L. Miller Memorial School is taking registration for kindergarten classes for this coming fall. Children must be 5 years old as of Aug. 31, 2019, to be eligible. All students have equal access to general education programs and any occupational or vocational programs offered by the district. 
 
Call the school office at 413-743-1992 as soon as possible. 

Williamstown

Kindergarten registration will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 5 and 6, at Willamstown Elementary School. Parents of children who live in Williamstown and will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2018, should stop by between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. or 1:30 to 4 p.m. either day to complete registration forms. Parents will meet briefly with Mrs. Betti in the principal’s office and Mrs. Stein-Payne in the health office. The whole process will take about 20 minutes.

Parents should bring proof of residency (lease agreement, purchase & sale, proof of mortgage, etc.); a copy of their child's birth certificate; a copy of the most recent physical with vision test; and a copy of their child’s immunization records to date.
