PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The bridge on Holmes Road over the Housatonic Rail line will be reduced to one lane beginning on Monday morning.

The state Department of Transportation says the bridge will be reduced to one lane for the duration of the repair.

Crews will mobilize concrete barriers and install a temporary traffic signal on Monday and the full lane reduction will be implemented by the end of the day on Wednesday, April 3.

The roadway will remain in this configuration until further notice while MassDOT develops and implements a repair procedure for the bridge.

The lane reduction is necessary so that MassDOT can respond "promptly and appropriately" to the results of a recent bridge rating report.

MassDOT encourages drivers to be mindful of potential impacts and to seek alternate routes. Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to inform drivers of work occurring in the area.
